ABOUT US
The Monmouth County Bayshore Outfall Authority was created by the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 1969 to act as a separate county authority in order to help clean up Raritan and Sandy Hook bays.
The goal of MCBOA is to pump treated effluent to the Atlantic Ocean that is collected from two regional sewerage authorities, BRSA and TOMSA, which serve the majority of communities along the Bayshore. Effluents receive greater dispersion and dilution in the ocean, resulting in improved water quality for the Raritan and Sandy Hook Bays.
Unique in concept and execution, MCBOA serves the Bayshore area of the county and provides collective and economical means of effluent disposal for 13 municipalities carried over 14 miles of pipeline.
